On the eve of Gulfood exhibition in Dubai, the fourth annual Almond Ashes cricket Test between Australian almond sellers and Indian almond buyers took place.
Just as the other Indian national cricket side did in Delhi against the Australian cricket team, the Indian almond buyers emerged victorious, which has levelled the annual series at two-all.
At the post-match function, the proud victors did not take long to start discussing new season almond offers with the Australian sellers and were exploring what new opportunities can be taken up under the new AI-ECTA trade agreement that has lowered tariffs of Australians almonds by 50% this year.
On 20 February 2023, Gulfood exhibition, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre kicked off. Gulfood is one of the largest fine food exhibitions in the world. With access to a massive audience captive to the latest in global food and trends, there was significant interest in Australian almonds from our current customers and potential new customers.
In addition to the exhibition, the trade mission included a networking event at the Novotel World Trade Centre Hotel in Dubai. This provides an opportunity for Australian almond sellers and Indian almond buyers to network and reinforce existing relationships. An Australian almond industry update was delivered by Mr Tim Jackson, CEO of the Almond Board of Australia and supported by:
Mr Damien Houlahan, OFI
Mr Brenton Woolston, Almondco Australia
Mr Ekrem Omer, Select Harvests
Mr Matthew Hammond, Nut Producers Australia
