The Australian Sustainable Almonds Program looks to document and communicate the results of 20 years of work across a broad range of sustainability issues. Our program is built on the all-of-horticulture sustainability framework.

The core objectives of our Australian Sustainable Almonds Program are to enhance an industry-wide program of continuous improvement, allow growers to identify areas of improvement and provide credible data to manage, report and support our industry’s place within our broader community.

The program has a comprehensive range of areas upon which we are collecting information and preparing guidance:

  • Biodiversity and ecosystem management
  • Human nutrition
  • Regional and national community value
  • Carbon value and greenhouse emissions
  • Water use efficiency
  • Soil health
  • Bee health and pollination
  • Renewable energy
  • Bio-mass utilisation
  • Pest and disease management
  • Food safety and traceability
  • Biosecurity from exotic plant pests and diseases
  • Packaging and recycling

Over the next few years these areas will be reviewed and reported to our community.
