The Almonds for Heart Health cycle team participated in the Murray to Moyne bike relay event that covered 520 kilometres from the Murray at Mildura to Port Fairy’s Moyne River on the coast. The 19 person team comprised of 16 riders and three support crew that completed the ride over Saturday and Sunday to raise funds for Heartbeat, an organisation that supports heart health and those that are recovering in hospital. This year’s team has raised $7,000 that will purchase equipment for the Riverland General Hospital thanks to major donations from almond and pistachio producer CMV, Sunrise Ag, Weis McNair(nut harvesting equipment manufacturer) and the Almond Board of Australia. Previous rides have enabled the Mildura Base Hospital to purchase a pediatric ultrasound probe to assist minimise the trauma of placing drips in infants. The support of almond company Select Harvests with the provision of their bus and the Robinvale Euston Cycling Club for their bike trailer is much appreciated.
